Ocracoke Island Real Estate

To the southwest of Hatteras Village is the small island of Ocracoke. Accessible only by ferry, boat, or airplane, Ocracoke is part of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The 15 mile long island boasts 16 miles of undeveloped coastline that truly allows you to escape from all the hustle and bustle. Ocracoke Village is at the western tip of the island, built around the historic and picturesque Silver Lake, a harbor filled with sailboats in the summer and fishing boats in the winter.

The village features a number of small, mostly family owned shops with some very good restaurants always steps away. With it’s rich history, there are several great visitor attractions on the island: the Ocracoke Lighthouse, the British Cemetery, the visitors’ center at the National Park Service, and the Ocracoke Preservation Society Museum.
